Academics

We believe education is a process, not a product. School is not preparation for life; school is life being lived.

Fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (the only recognized accrediting body for secondary schools in California) and the California Association of Independent Schools, Mid-Peninsula's curricula meets standards of admission for both the University of California and the California State institutions as well as private institutions of higher learning.

We are committed to providing personalized academic experiences for our students in which we strive to offer them maximum opportunities to explore and develop their talents while understanding and minimizing their limitations in a successful, rewarding manner. Classes are small—typically under 15 students—and interactive.

We expect our students to be committed to and participate in our enriching academic program while focusing on balancing their intellectual and emotional considerations. Mid-Peninsula teachers provide ongoing guidance, but more importantly, they challenge students to monitor their own choices and behavior. That way, students can discover their own personal motivation, character and self-discipline.

Mid-Peninsula's variable credit program grants academic credit based on the quantity of work, and grades are based on the quality of work. Our approach assures that students master the material and learn lessons about follow-through, personal ownership and accountability, and the importance of setting and achieving goals.

In addition to assuring students have a basic comprehension of each major discipline, we encourage those with exceptional talents and sincere interests to pursue and cultivate their capabilities and strengths.
